Returning to the Rhythm: Waxing Moon Magic, Summer Heat & the First Harvest

Well… it has been a while.

Over a month, in fact.

The Haven Whispers hasn’t disappeared, but life has been moving very quickly behind the scenes. Between settling into our permanent home at The Conscious Breath, welcoming clients into the treatment room, running groups and events, completing new qualifications, and attempting to function during a very determined British heatwave, the weeks have rather run away with me.

But The Goddess Haven is now feeling beautifully settled in Kingswood.

The shelves are full, the treatment room is in use, the bowls and drums have found their places, and the space is beginning to hold the stories, conversations, laughter, release and quiet moments of everyone who comes through the door.

It feels lived in now.

Not cluttered-lived-in. We’re still trying to maintain the illusion that everything has a designated home.

But energetically lived in.

And as we move towards Lughnasadh, the first harvest festival, it feels like the perfect time to pause and notice what has grown.

Summer Has Arrived… Quite Enthusiastically

We are currently in the middle of a heatwave with no end in sight.. and while longer, brighter days can feel wonderful, excessive heat can also leave us tired, foggy, irritable and wondering whether lying directly in front of the freezer counts as a spiritual practice.(it definitely does!)

For those who find daytime appointments too warm, I’m currently offering some later evening availability, with appointments running until around 10:30pm on selected evenings, when the air is a little cooler and the treatment room feels far more comfortable.

The evenings have actually created a lovely atmosphere. The light begins to soften, the pace outside slows, and there is something deeply calming about receiving a treatment as the day draws to a close, particularly relaxing and beneficial for those who struggle to sleep in the heat.

There are also a small number of half-price introductory appointments remaining for two of my newest treatments:

  • Manual lymphatic drainage 90min code: FIRST590
  • Reflexology code: FIRST5FLEX

Both are gentle, deeply nurturing therapies, although they work in very different ways.

Manual lymphatic drainage uses slow, light and rhythmic movements to support the body’s natural lymphatic flow, while reflexology works through specific points and zones on the feet to encourage relaxation and whole-body balance.

If you have been curious about either treatment, this is a lovely opportunity to experience one while the introductory spaces remain available.

This Week’s Lunar Journey

We begin today beneath a Waxing Crescent Moon in Libra, moving into Scorpio on Tuesday and then beginning the shift into Sagittarius on Friday.

The waxing moon is a time for increase.

It supports whatever we wish to grow, strengthen, invite or expand. Confidence, prosperity, creativity, connection, courage, motivation or joy can all be nurtured beneath a waxing moon.

This does not mean we need to force ourselves into relentless action, particularly when it is hot enough to melt both candles and concentration!

Waxing energy is not necessarily about doing everything at once.

It is about choosing what deserves your energy and feeding it deliberately.

Sunday & Monday

Waxing Crescent Moon in Libra

Balance, Beauty & Intentional Growth

Libra asks us to consider balance, but balance does not always mean giving equal energy to everything.

Sometimes balance means recognising that one area of life has been taking far more than it gives.

Sometimes it means cancelling something.

Sometimes it means asking for help.

And sometimes it means drinking water, sitting down and accepting that the washing can remain in the basket for another hour without civilisation collapsing, who needs pants anyway.

Libra also carries an appreciation for beauty, harmony and meaningful connection. This makes the beginning of the week perfect for creating surroundings that support the energy you want to grow.

Libra Ritual: Create a Point of Beauty

Choose one small area of your home, garden, desk or altar.

Clear away anything that feels distracting and place something beautiful there. You might use:

  • Fresh or dried flowers
  • A candle
  • A favourite crystal
  • A photograph
  • A bowl of water
  • A handwritten affirmation

Sit with it for a few moments and ask:

What would bring greater harmony into my life this week?

Write down the first honest answer that comes.

Then choose one action that supports it.

Tuesday to Thursday

Moon in Scorpio

Desire, Truth & Deepening Intention

Scorpio takes us beneath the surface.

While Libra helps us create harmony, Scorpio asks whether that harmony is genuine or whether we have simply become very skilled at appearing fine.

Under a waxing Scorpio moon, desires can feel more intense. This is powerful energy for committing to something that matters, strengthening boundaries and reclaiming energy that has been scattered across too many people, responsibilities or unfinished situations.

Scorpio is not especially interested in polite intentions that look lovely in a notebook but mean very little.

It asks:

What do you truly want?

Not what would impress other people.

Not what seems sensible.

Not what you think you should want.

What keeps returning to you?

Scorpio Ritual: Calling Your Energy Home

Sit somewhere quiet and light a candle.

Close your eyes and imagine all the places where your energy has been left behind: conversations, worries, obligations, old relationships, unfinished plans or fear about the future.

Take a slow breath in and say:

“I call my energy back to me.”

As you exhale, imagine releasing anything that does not belong to you.

Repeat this several times.

Then write:

  • What am I ready to give less energy to?
  • What deserves more of my energy?
  • What desire am I finally ready to take seriously?

Keep the final answer somewhere visible for the rest of the waxing cycle.

Friday & Saturday

Moon Moving into Sagittarius

Expansion, Possibility & Following the Spark

By Friday, Sagittarius begins to lift the energy.

After Scorpio’s depth, Sagittarius brings movement, optimism, exploration and a wider view of what might be possible.

This is a lovely time to do something slightly different.

Take another route.

Visit somewhere new.

Read about something that interests you.

Start a conversation.

Book the experience.

Allow curiosity to lead rather than waiting until you have every detail perfectly planned.

Sagittarius reminds us that life is not only something to manage.

It is something to experience.

Sagittarius Ritual: The Expanding Flame

Light a gold, orange, yellow or white candle.

On a piece of paper, write one thing you would love to experience before the end of summer.

It could be meaningful, playful, creative or adventurous.

Hold the paper between your hands and say:

“I make space for joy, expansion and new possibility.”

Place it beneath the candle holder while the candle burns for a short time.

Then take one practical step towards it.

Magic may open the door, but occasionally we still need to send the email.

Waxing Moon Spell for Increase

This simple spell can be adapted for confidence, happiness, prosperity, motivation or any quality you would like to strengthen.

You will need:

  • A candle
  • A small bowl
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • A bay leaf
  • A coin, crystal or other symbolic object

Write your intention on the bay leaf.

For example:

Confidence
 Prosperity
 Joy
 Courage
 Opportunity

Place the bay leaf in the bowl with the cinnamon and your chosen object.

Light the candle and say:

“As the moon grows, so this energy grows within and around me.
I welcome aligned opportunity, steady expansion and the courage to receive.”

Spend a few moments imagining the intention becoming part of your everyday life.

Not as a distant fantasy, but through the choices, habits and opportunities already beginning to form.

Keep the symbolic object with you until the full moon.

Please use the usual common sense with candles, cinnamon and anything flammable. We are inviting abundance, not the fire brigade.

Approaching Lughnasadh

Honouring the First Harvest

We are now moving towards Lughnasadh, the first of the three traditional harvest festivals on the Wheel of the Year.

Lughnasadh honours the grain harvest and the long work that comes before visible abundance. It reminds us that every harvest begins with preparation, patience and care.

This season invites us to notice:

  • What has grown since the beginning of the year
  • What has required persistence
  • What we are proud to have nurtured
  • What is ready to be gathered
  • What still needs time

Harvest is not only about huge achievements.

Sometimes the harvest is a new boundary.

A qualification completed.

A room finally opened.

A business still standing after a difficult season.

A body listened to more carefully.

A friendship tended.

A decision made.

A moment when you realised you had become more capable than you once believed.

A Simple Lughnasadh Preparation Ritual

Over the coming week, begin gathering symbols of your personal harvest.

You might choose:

  • Oats, wheat or barley
  • A candle in gold, orange or earthy tones
  • Sunflowers or calendula
  • A piece of bread
  • Citrine, carnelian or tiger’s eye
  • A written list of what has grown

Place them together on a small seasonal altar or tray.

Each time you pass it, name one thing you are grateful for.

By Lughnasadh, you will have created a visible reminder that abundance is not always something waiting in the future.

Some of it is already here.

Upcoming Lughnasadh Gatherings

We have two beautiful seasonal events approaching.

Lughnasadh Ritual Sound Bath

This special gathering will combine ritual craft with deep sound and seasonal reflection.

You will create your own harvest bundle using Lughnasadh-related herbs, oats, barley grains and corn sheaves, forming a personal symbol of gratitude, abundance and what you are ready to gather from this season.

We will then move into a restorative sound journey, allowing the body to rest while the intentions of the ritual gently settle.

The Witch’s Year: Lughnasadh Circle

Sunday 2nd August

Our next Witch’s Year gathering will honour Lughnasadh through traditional seasonal craft, ritual and sound.

Together we will make traditional corn dolls, explore the themes of the first harvest and reflect on what has been growing in our own lives.

The evening will close with a seasonal sound journey, creating space for gratitude, grounding and connection with the turning Wheel.

A Little Harvest Reflection

Take a few minutes this week to write about the following:

  • What have I grown that I rarely give myself credit for?
  • What has required more effort than anyone else can see?
  • What am I now ready to receive?
  • Where am I experiencing genuine abundance?
  • What would I like to nurture through the remainder of summer?

You do not need to wait until everything is finished before you celebrate your progress.

There will always be another task, another plan and another shelf that apparently needs rearranging.

Pause anyway.

Notice what you have made possible.

Intention for the Week Ahead:

“I honour what I have grown.
I welcome expansion with balance and courage.
I trust my desires, receive the fruits of my efforts
and remain open to the abundance still unfolding.”

It is lovely to be whispering with you again.

Until next week,

With love,

Marie xx
